When there are literally years between new seasons of your show, how do you keep a fanbase engaged?
I was hired to maintain the social media channels for Peaky Blinders, the high end drama about the exploits of a criminal gang in post-First World War Birmingham, in 2023. The final season of the show had been delayed by the pandemic and by the tragic loss of a key cast member, and while a movie was rumoured to be in the works, fans were impatient.
My job was to post archive content that would remind fans why they loved the show, and keep them on the hook even without a confirmed release date for any future content. That meant creating a calendar that picked out key emotional beats from the show; reminded them of minor characters who made big impact; and even drew their attention to minor details they might have missed.
I also worked with various partners including Rambert and Banijay to cross-promote other Peaky Blinders projects, including the dance theatre production Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby, spin-off games, and eventually the announced Netflix movie.
